Zelo Brazilian Keratin Step 1
Q: What results should I expect to see with Zelo?
The hair will be frizz-free and more manageable with added shine. It will be faster to dry & style overall.
Please be aware that the hair will not be pin straight after you wash it. If you would like to wear it straight, you will still need to blow dry it.
Q: Should the hair be colored and/or highlighted before or after the treatment?
We suggest that permanent, demi and semi-permanent color and/or highlights be done before the treatment. This will allow the treatment to seal in the color leaving it rich and vibrant.
Q: Can Zelo be done on chemically treated, relaxed or straightened hair?
Yes, but it is recommended to wait a week between treatments.
Q: How does Zelo differ from a permanent straightener/relaxer?
There is no this or lye chemical in Zelo; therefore there is no risk of chemical damage.
Q: Do I need to use the Step 1 Shampoo to wash the hair after processing or can I use my own shampoo?
We recommend using the Step 1 Shampoo that comes with your kit to ensure the best results.
Q: How many days do I have to wait to wash my hair after the treatment?
There is no restriction; you can wash your hair immediately after the treatment if you choose.
Q: Can I pull my hair back in a clip or pony-tail?
Yes, pulling or clipping the hair back will not change the result of the treatment.
Q: Can I go swimming in the pool or the ocean once my hair is treated with Zelo?
Yes, but we suggest first wetting your hair with clean water before entering the pool or the ocean so you limit the amount of chlorine and salt water damage to your hair.
Q: What kind of aftercare do you suggest?
We recommend using a salt & sulfate free shampoo & conditioner. To ensure you will receive the best possible outcome of the treatment; please see our aftercare line for Zelo
Q: How long will the results of Zelo last?
Approx. 30 shampoos
Q: How often can Zelo be applied?
The treatment can be done as often as once every month. The more often you use it, the better the results.
Q: Can the treatment be done on pregnant or nursing women?
It is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. We suggest that you check with your physician before doing any treatment to your hair.
Q: Does Zelo provide technical support?
Yes, we have an in-house stylist who is available for any questions you may have M-F 9AM-5:00 PM EST through phone or text (1-800-251-2479
FREE), email or online chat
Q: Do you re-apply the treatment to the whole head or just the roots?
You will re-apply the treatment to the entire head as the keratin begins to gradually fade out of the hair.
Q: When I am flat ironing the hair in the final step, how many passes do you suggest on each piece of hair?
We suggest approximately 4-6 passes.
